Introduction
Welcome to the Pokémon Destiny League!
Destiny League is an attempt to create a new, massively-multiplayer way to play Pokémon, as well as a brand new competitive battling metagame!
You're welcome to use this ruleset for free battles, or join the
Destiny League War Games -- where you can cooperate and compete with other trainers for control of the Pokémon world!
Unlike traditional competitive Pokémon battling, one of the central design concepts of Destiny League is that
all competitively-viable Pokémon teams are realistically possible to get -- without cheating.
I'm sure anyone who's grazed the surface of competitive ladders like Smogon's knows what I'm talking about -- is it really realistic to have a team of perfect-IV, correct-nature legendaries, and perfect Pokémon with event-exclusive moves that were distributed once in a single place in Japan
three generations ago?
In the Destiny League, the limits on legal Pokémon and movesets are
based on how realistically difficult it would be to actually breed perfect ones. For example, Pokémon that are difficult to IV-breed (genderless, male-only, mostly-male, etc.) are limited based on actual breeding difficulty, and legendary/unbreedable Pokémon are banned entirely.
We also ban all moves that are exclusive to previous generations or events, meaning that you can make any moveset with only X or Y!
The result is that
every team you make for the Destiny League could be yours in the games, too!
